The Pattern of IBPS PO Preliminary Examination

  • This examination is referred to as CWE or Common Written Exam. This test will be conducted in online mode. Here is the table that shows the pattern:

  • Candidates will have to qualify in each of these three tests by securing cut-off marks that will be decided by IBPS. An adequate number of candidates from each category will be decided by IBPS to shortlist for online main examination. This will be decided based on the requirements.

The Pattern of IBPS PO Main Examination

  • There will be 5 sections in the main examination as per the table is given below. The sequence in which sections are specified in this table might vary.
  • For the main examination, time will be allotted for each section separately as given in the table. Also, except the English language section, questions for all other sections will be given both English and Hindi.

  • Along with this, 2 questions from the English language will be given with the duration of 30 Minutes.
  • IBPS reserves the right to change the structure of PO exam. The same will be intimated through the website of IBPS. Candidates can find other detailed information about the examination on the information handout. The same will be available for candidates to download along with call letters from the official website.
  • Both for the preliminary and main examination, there will be a penalty for wrong answers for objective type questions. For each incorrect answer, there will be a deduction of 1/4th or 0.25 mark assigned to that specific question as the penalty. However, there will not be any penalty for questions that were not attempted by the test takers.

IBPS PO Interview:

  • Total marks for the interview is 100.
  • Candidates should secure at least 40% marks to clear the interview.
  • The marking requirement for reserved category candidates is 35%.
  • The weightage ratio for CWE (main examination) and interview for preparing the final merit list of candidates are 80:20 respectively.
