ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IBPS RRB 2017

IBPS RRB Eligibility Criteria | 2017

  • The eligibility requirements to be met by the applicants for IBPS RRB Recruitment are categorized by IBPS under three main categories and they are nationality/citizenship, Age, and the third one is the educational qualification.

Nationality/Citizenship

  • To apply for the IBPS Clerk examination, an applicant must be either:
    1. A citizen of India or
    2. A subject of Nepal or
    3. A citizen of Bhutan or
    4. A Tibetan refugee, who reached India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement in India. Or
    5. An individual who has migrated from Vietnam, Ethiopia, Zaire, Malawi, Zambia, the United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya with the intention to settle in India permanently.
  • The candidates falling under the second to the fifth of the points mentioned above must have obtained an eligibility certificate from the Government of India.

Age (As on the 1st of September 2017)

  • The age eligibility for different positions for which IBPS RRB is conducted is listed below:
    • For Officer Scale – III: More than 21 years and less than 40 years. This means that the applicants should not have been born earlier than 03rd September 1977 and not later than 31st August 1996, including both days.
    • For Officer Scale – II: More than 21 years and less than 32 years. This means that the applicants should not have been born earlier than 03rd September 1985 and not later than 31st August 1996, including both days.
    • For Officer Scale – I: More than 18 years and less than 30 years. This means that the applicants should not have been born earlier than 03rd September 1987 and not later than 31st August 1999, including both days.
    • For Office Assistant (Multipurpose): Between 18 years and 28 years. This means that the applicants should not have been born earlier than 02nd September 1989 and not later than 01st September 1999, including both days.
  • The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC, 10 for individuals with a disability. For more getting details, candidates are suggested to visit the official notification page at the website of IBPS at www.ibps.in.

Educational Qualification (as on the 30th of September 2017)

  • The eligibility requirement for different positions for IBPS RRB differs and to apply for some positions, the applicants should be experienced as well. Here is a table that shows the eligibility requirements for different positions:

Computer awareness or knowledge will be an added advantage.

Officer Scale – II

General Banking Officer

Degree in any discipline. However, candidates with the same degree as applicable to officer scale – I will be given preference.

Two years of experience as an officer in a financial institution or bank.

Officer Scale – II

Specialist Officers

Information technology officer: A degree from a recognised University in Electronics/Communication/computer science/information technology or its equivalent with at least 50% of marks in aggregate.

Desirable: Certificate in OCP, VC, VB, Java, C++, PHP, ASP, etc.

Chartered Accountant: Certified Associate (CA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India

Law Officer: A degree from a recognized university in law or its equivalent with at least 50% of aggregate marks.

Two years as an advocate or the candidate should have worked as a law officer in banks or financial institutions for at least two years.

 

Treasury Manager: CA from ICAI or MBA in Finance from a recognised institution or university.

Marketing Officer: MBA in Marketing from the recognised University

One Year

 

Agriculture Officer: Degree in agriculture/horticulture/Dairy/animal husbandry/forestry/veterinary science/agricultural engineering/Pisciculture from a recognized University or its equivalent with at least 50% of aggregate marks.

Two years

Officer Scale - III

Degree in any discipline from the recognised university or its equivalent qualification with at least 50% aggregate marks. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree or diploma in accountancy, economics, law, management, information technology, agricultural marketing and cooperation, Pisciculture, agricultural engineering, Animal husbandry and veterinary science, forestry, horticulture, agriculture, marketing, finance, and banking.

At least 5 years experience as an officer in a financial institution or bank.

  • All the educational qualifications mentioned above should be from a board or institution or university that is recognized by the Government of India or approved by the government regulatory bodies. The result of the qualifying examination should have been declared on or before the 30th of September 2017.
  • At the time of interview for candidates applying for Scale I, II and III positions, they should submit an appropriate document from the university or board stating that the result was published before the 30th of September 2017. The same document should be submitted at the time of joining for the positions of multipurpose office assistants.
  • The date of completing the eligibility qualification will be the date as it appears on the provisional certificate or mark-sheet issued by an institution or university. In case, a web-based certificate is issued then an appropriate certificate and document in original as issued and signed by the appropriate authority of the institution or university indicating the data of passing mentioned thereon will be calculated for further process and verification.
  • Local language proficiency: For recruitment of Officer Scale I and Office Assistant positions, it is important that applicants must be proficient in the local language.
  • In this regard, candidates, who have already studied in the specific language of the state in class VIII or any above levels in the state language from a government recognized board of education or school or candidates with a certificate to the effect will be considered proficient in the local language.
  • In case, a candidate does not have proficiency in the local language at the time of selection, he/she will be given six months of time from the joining data to acquire the proficiency.

Pre-Examination Training

  • Pre-examination training for reserved category candidates is proposed to be imparted through RRBs.
  • This training is for a limited number of candidates from Ex-servicemen/individuals with disabilities for the post of office assistant/minority communities/ST/SC.
  • The training will also be offered to the minority communities for the post of officer scale – I in selected centres. Candidates can find the details about the centres once the official notification is out.
  • The training is offered for free, but candidates will have to spend for transportation, boarding, lodging and other expenses for attending the training session.
