Description

The B. M. Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering (B. M. Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering), is one of the most reputed engineering college in Karnataka, Bangalore, India. The engineering college, started in 1946, was one of the first private sector initiatives in technical education in India. Popularly known as BMS, it is located on the Bull Temple Road, opposite to the famous Bull Temple. Though a private engineering college, it is partially funded by the government of Karnataka. It has the largest student population of engineering colleges in Karnataka, drawing students from other states of India and from abroad. Nearly 30,000 engineers around the world hail B. M. Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering as their Alma mater. One of the oldest engineering colleges in Karnataka, it recently celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 2006. It is also known for the annual inter-collegiate cultural fest UTSAV, one of the prominent student-managed fests in the country.

Sir,my AIEEE AIR is 26610 & intermediate percentage is 93.5 do i stand a chance for gettin admission into BMS college for courses such as ECE,CSc,EEE or mechanical??

Fee structure for BMS College of Engineering
a) For Government Seats (50% of the Total seats to be filled through CET):
(i) Rs.15,000/- per annum for poor and meritorious
ii) Rs.30,000/- per annum for other merit students

Biotechnology department was established in 2002 with intake of students of 30 which is enhanced now to 40 and is offering B.E ( Biotechnology) course. There are three faculty members possessing doctorate in Chemical Engineering and Biological Science fields from reputed institutions with varied teaching/research / industrial experience. Another two possess Masters Degree in Biological science. The support from other departments, particularly the Chemical engineering and Medical electronics, Computer Science departments is available to the programme. New laboratory facilities are being added to cater to the needs of undergraduate programme as well for pursuing research on continuous basis.

The department has established well functioning labs as per VTU Curriculum requirements, namely, Biochemistry lab, Cell & microbiology lab, Bioinformatics lab, Upstream & Downstream processing lab, Unit operation lab, Momentum transfer lab, Bio kinetics lab, Bioprocess Control Lab. Bioinformatics lab is equipped with 12 computers including 6 work-stations and 4 latest PCs from Sun Micro Systems.

The department of Chemical engineering was established in the year 1995 with the intake of 40 students. The intake is now enhanced to 60. The department has well furnished classrooms and well equipped laboratories including a computer applications laboratory. The department has been accreditated by National Board of Accreditation for a period of five years (2004-2008). The department received the status as a recognized research center in 2004. The department offers the under graduate course in chemical engineering. The faculty strength of 7 members are a blend of both academic and industrial experience. All are post graduates, two of whom hold doctorates degree. It is supported by five experienced non-teaching staff. The thrust areas of research are identified as Biochemical Engineering, Bio Fuels and Petrochemicals with the emphasis on catalysis technology. The research center has received funding for projects under TAPTEC, MODROBS, RPS scheme from AICTE and from KSCST.
