College Overview:

The Indian Institute of Journalism & New Media (IIJNM) is one of South Asia’s leading post-graduate schools of journalism and media. Located in Bangalore in the heart of India’s high-tech industry, the institute offers an excellent curriculum that focuses on practice supplemented by theory to prepare its graduates for positions in the media industry. http://www.iijnm.org/about-us/

With increasing opportunities for employment in the media profession, journalism today is a preferred career choice. As an independent institution not affiliated with or run by anyone newspaper or media organization, IIJNM is able to maintain a wider association within the industry. With assistance from the college placement department, our students have access to most media organizations for employment opportunities. In the past, practically all our graduates have received one or more job offers from media-related organizations at attractive salaries. http://www.iijnm.org/job-placement/

Course Details:

IIJNM offers a curriculum developed in association with Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, New York. Its programs in print, television, and multimedia journalism embody the best practices in the media industry and media technology.

Today, IIJNM is regarded by many in the media community as among the best in journalism study in all of South Asia. Students learn under the guidance of Indian and foreign veteran journalists who are complemented by guest lecturers from the media industry. Further, students get the opportunity to intern at media organizations for between two weeks and a month. In summary, by the time the academic year ends, the graduating class is ready to hit the road running in their chosen fields – an unmatched experience among media education institutions for motivated students. http://www.iijnm.org/programs/

Job Placement:

IIJNM has a record of excellent placement; practically 100% of our graduates have been placed in media organizations at attractive salaries during the past several years. Active campus recruiting is complemented by persistent contacts with a large number of media companies. http://www.iijnm.org/job-placement/

Facilities:

Campus: IIJNM is situated on 5 acres of beautifully kept grounds surrounded by rolling hills.

The 30,000-sq.-ft. facility features large classrooms, auditoriums, a sophisticated media lab, library, and conference rooms. Each student is assigned a private study area with a personal computer connected to a network running powerful servers, e-mail, and high-speed 24-hour access to the Internet.

Hostel: The IIJNM program requires intense study for one year, and all students must preferably stay in college dormitory next to the campus unless an exemption is granted. A convenient and modern residential facility is provided separately for both male and female students, with supervision by a hostel warden.

IIJNM campus is just 45 minutes from the main Bangalore city. Healthy climate and adequate clean water availability make the area very attractive for living comfortably. It offers a scenic environment free of heavy traffic, pollution and noise. The campus is in a secure area, and the institute is well protected with sufficient security guards. Frequent public transport is available to several points in the city. A major hospital is within 15 minutes from the institute. http://www.iijnm.org/housing-meals/
