In persuance with the policies of the Government of India to start Engineering colleges in emerging technologies in rural areas, the Kavikulguru Institute of Technology and Science (K.I.T.S) was established at Ramtek during the academic year 1985-86. The Institute is named after the great poet Kavikulguru Kalidas. Our beloved former Prime Minister Hon. Sri. P. V. Narsimha Rao, the then M.P. from the Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency was instrumental in setting up the Engineering College here. Eligibility of Maharashtra State Candidate and OMS candidate for appearing for MHTCET-2010:

Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed/appeared* the HSC (Std.XII)examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.



Candidates who have appeared for qualifying examination i.e. HSC (Std. XII) or its equivalent examination during the academic year 2009-10 and whose results are not declared till the last date of submission of application form are eligible to appear for MHT-CET-2010, however for admission to first year of degree courses in Engineering/Technology, such candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the Admission Brochure.

Maharashtra State candidates and OMS candidates are eligible to appear for the MHT-CET- 2010 conducted by the Competent Authority of Government of Maharashtra for the academic year 2010–2011, as per the rules defined in Admission Broacher 2010-11.

Even though Outside Maharashtra State candidates are eligible to appear for the MHT-CET- 2010, it is specifically made clear that such OMS candidates will not able to participate in the Centralized Admission Process. These OMS candidates will be able to apply for the admissions against the Institute Level seats as well as the vacancy round of admission after completion of Centralized Admission Process, ONLY in the Unaided Private Engineering Colleges/Institutes.

The facility of Constitutional Reservation is not available for the OMS candidates. Therefore OMS candidates will be treated as OPEN/GENERAL category candidate in the entire admission process.
