IFS Preliminary Exam Pattern:

  • Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of 200 marks each.
  • The questions are objective type.
  • Total duration of exam is 2 hour.
  • There is negative marking in the paper.
  • Each wrong answer results in deduction of 1/3 of the marks.
  • The short list for appearing in main exam will be prepared based on the cut-off marks in each subject as well as in the total marks.
  • Depending on the number of vacancies available, cut-offs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for Main Examination.
  • However, decision of UPSC in this regard shall be final and binding upon the candidates.

IFS Main Exam Pattern:

  • There are six papers in this examination.
  • All the papers are to be answered in English.
  • It consists of following section:

  • Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Agriculture
  • The candidate must score above the cut-off in each section as well as in total to qualify for provisional allotment.
  • Cut-off is decided based on the no. of vacancies.
  • However, decision of UPSC in this regard shall be final and binding upon the candidates.
  • There will be negative marking for each wrong answer.

Personal Interview:

    • The candidates that clear the cut-off of the mains are called for the interview.

    • The interview carries 300 marks.

    • The selected candidates are notified and cut-off decided based on number of candidates, vacancies, etc.
