EXAM PATTERN, SYLLABUS OF AIIMS NURSING 2017

The pattern of entrance test for all three nursing courses offered by AIIMS is as follows:

  • For B. Sc (Hons.) Nursing: The test takers will have to take up a single paper of two-hour duration, and there will be four parts in the question paper with objective type questions as distributed as follows:

  • B. Sc Nursing (Post Basic): This entrance test will be conducted only in Delhi and only in English language. The selection of candidates for this course will be done in a two-stage performance evaluation process as given below:
  • First stage written test: The applicants of B. Sc Nursing (Post Basic) course will have to appear for the written entrance test with the duration of 90 minutes. The test will be conducted in a single paper with 70 objective type questions. The questions will be asked in the following subjects:
    • Professional trends in nursing
    • Psychiatric nursing
    • Community health nursing
    • Paediatric Nursing
    • Obstetrics Nursing & Midwifery
    • Physiology & Pharmacology
    • Anatomy
    • Fundamentals of Nursing
  • Second stage personal assessment/interview:  Based on the merit and marks secured by applicants in the first stage, the number of candidates equivalent to three times the available number of seats will be invited for the personal assessment/interview by the selection committee.
  • Total Mark in the personal assessment is 30 and the following factors will be considered when candidates are evaluated:
    • Previous educational attainment at the higher secondary or 10+2 level or equivalent examination.
    • Past educational attainment in the nursing examination
    • Performance of the candidate as a staff nurse
  • Admission will be made considering the aggregate of marks secured by the applicants in the stage I and stage II of the admission procedure
  • In case, more than a single candidate secures the same aggregate combining the first and second stage; the merit will be decided based on:
    • Candidates securing higher marks in the written test
    • Candidate with older age will be preferred.
  • For entrance test for all courses, there will be the negative mark for wrong answers.
  • Each correct answer will bring 1 mark for the candidate, while there will be a deduction of 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer
  • There will not be any credit for unanswered questions and for questions with multiple selections of choices, there will be the negative mark.
