It is a scientific society of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India.
This society carries out Research and Development (R&D) in IT, electronics and associated areas.
Some of the research areas include high-performance computing, grid and cloud computing, professional electronics, multilingual computing, cybersecurity, software technologies, ubiquitous computing, etc.
Its focus is in building emerging/enabling technologies and innovating its expertise, calibre and skill set to develop IT products and solutions for diverse sectors.
C-DAC has set up the Advanced Computing Training School (ACTS) in 1993.
ACTS aims to meet the requirements for the skilled workforce for Information Communication Technologies (ICT) industry.
C-DAC has designed various postgraduate and undergraduate degree and diploma programs.
It also imparts ICT training to state and national governments, agencies, strategic sectors, corporate and industries, foreign countries and international students.
