NCHMCT JEE 2018: EXAM DATE, RESULT, ELIGIBILITY, APPLICATION FORM

  • NCHMCT stands for National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology.
  • JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination. So, NCHMCT JEE is conducted by the council.
  • NCHMCT is an autonomous body that functions under the Ministry of Tourism of Government of India.
  • The council centrally regulates and runs academics for B. Sc in Hospitality & Hotel Administration and 9 other structured courses of study that are imparted at the affiliated 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 14 private Institutes of Hotel Management, a public sector undertaking and 19 State Government Institutes of Hotel Management.
  • Admission to the B. Sc H & HA course offered by the council and its affiliated colleges are done through Joint Entrance Examination.
  • This course is offered by the council jointly with the Indira Gandhi National Open University. This is a course of three-year duration with 6 semesters. The course equips the students with all the essential attitude, knowledge and skills to discharge supervisory responsibilities in the hospitality sector in an efficient manner.
  • Managerial inputs in different areas like tourism marketing, strategic management, financial management, etc are also offered to students through this course.
  • The course is also offered in specialization at two of the council’s institutions at Chennai and at Kolkata
  • NCHMCT JEE is conducted at All India level for admission to this course and for specialization, limited number of seats are available at the two institutes mentioned above.
  • The specialization is offered based on the performance of the students during the 1st and 2nd semester of the course.
  • Selection of students for these specializations is done through merit-cum-choice basis.
  • The three specializations offered are food production management, food and beverage management and accommodation operation management.
  • The first three semesters are common for all students and specialization applies only from the 4th semester of the course.
  • Once a candidate is allocated for a specific specialization, he/she cannot change.
  • To become eligible for certification of this degree by IGNOU, students must complete the council’s component as full-time students in the affiliated institutions of hotel management and they will also have to clear the credit papers offered by IGNOU during the course study.
