ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR NID 2018

The eligibility requirement for different levels of design courses offered by NID differs and the details are as follows:

          1. Eligibility Requirement for M.Design:

  • For general category, Upper age limit is  30 years on 30th of June 2018. Only the candidates born on or after 1 July 1988 are eligible.
  • For Indian nationals falling under reserved category, Upper age limit is  33 years on 30th of June 2018.Only the candidates born on or before the 30th of June 1985 are not eligible to apply.
  • For Indian nationals falling under PWD reserved category, Upper age limit is  35 years on 30th of June 2018. Only the candidates born on or after 1 July 1983 are not eligible to apply.
  • For foreign nationals in Overseas, Upper age limit is  30 years on 30th of June 2018. Only the candidates born on or after 1 July 1988 are not eligible to apply.

         Education Qualification:

  • Applicants must have either appeared or must have passed or will be appearing for any of the following degree courses before the July 2018:
    • UG degree in any discipline under 10+2+4 scheme from any institution or university recognized by the law in India.
    • Diploma in design under 10+2+4 scheme from any institution or university recognized by law in India or
  • Applicants must have appeared or passed before July 2018 in a degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 system from a university or institution recognized by law in India.
  • In the case of applicants with a degree or certificate obtained from a board or university from any other country other than India, they should get an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, prior to the admission.

    2. Eligibility Requirement for B.Design and GDPD:

  • For general category, Upper age limit is  20 years on 30th of June 2018. Only the candidates born on or after 1 July 1998 are eligible.
  • For Indian nationals falling under reserved category, Upper age limit is  23 years on 30th of June 2018.Only the candidates born on or before the 30th of June 1995 are not eligible to apply.
  • For Indian nationals falling under PWD reserved category, Upper age limit is  25 years on 30th of June 2018. Only the candidates born on or after 1 July 1993 are not eligible to apply.
  • For foreign nationals in Overseas, Upper age limit is  20 years on 30th of June 2018. Only the candidates born on or after 1 July 1998 are not eligible to apply.

          Education Qualification: 

  • Applications for the academic year 2018-2019 are open for candidates, who have completed or will be appearing for their higher secondary qualifying examinations in the academic year 2018-2018 in any stream of any recognized board of education like ICSE, IB, CBSE or its equivalent.
  • Candidates can view the list of equivalent qualification from the handbook for NID DAT 2018 at handbook of NID DAT 2018.
  • Candidates, who are yet to appear for their qualifying examination, are eligible to apply, but they should produce the proof of having completed the qualifying degree or course at the time of admission.
  • In case the results of the higher secondary or degree course are not published at the time of admission, the candidate’s admission will be done purely on the provisional basis and will be confirmed only on the submission of the proof of qualification.
