Along with the notification, candidates can find the complete guidance on how to apply on the official website.
Before applying, candidates are recommended to get a clear understanding of the application process.
Candidates, who are going to apply for UGC NET June 2018, are recommended to keep the scanned photographs, signatures, mark sheets, unique ID number and certificates before starting the application process.
The first thing to be done by applicants is to register themselves with the UGC NET website. In the case of candidates with login credentials, they can directly sign in to the website.
The online application submission comprises of four simple processes and they are: fill the application form, upload scanned photo and signature, pay the examination fee and finally print/confirmation page.
After this, candidates will be directed to the instruction page, where they should carefully go through the instructions and should click on the check box to agree to conditions.
Then, they should click on the tab that reads ‘proceed to apply online’.
On the first page, candidates will have to enter the examination related details, which will have details about the subject opted for by the candidate and the examination centre choices.
Second is personal information, where personal details are to be entered.
Then, comes the mailing address of the candidate, followed by the permanent address, then educational qualification, then they should generate a password. Once every detail is entered on this page, they will have to click on the ‘next’ button.
When they click the next button, candidates will be able to see a warning message that suggests them to view the details entered to ensure their correctness. The reason is that at this stage, they can go back and can make corrections, but once the application is finally submitted, they cannot make changes. They will see the details entered by them in the review page, from which they can go back to make any required corrections. Otherwise, they can choose the ‘final submit’ option to submit the application.
Once this first step is completed, candidates will find a success message and then they will be asked to upload the scanned images of their photograph and signature. These images can be in JPG/JPEG format. The photo size should be more than 4 KB and should be less than 40 KB.
The size of the signature file should be more than 1 KB and should be less than 30 KB.
The dimension of the photo should be 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm only, while that of the signature must be 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm.
Once these things are ensured, they can upload the images. They can preview the images and can finally find successfully uploaded message, and then they should move on to the fee payment step.
On successful payment of application fee, candidates are recommended to take a printout of the confirmation page, and they should keep the same for their future reference. They need not have to submit it.
UGC NET Application fee:
The application fee to be paid by general category candidates is Rs.600.
For OBC applicants, the fee applicable is Rs.300
For SC/ST/PWD candidates the fee applicable is Rs.150
Fee payment can be done either using debit/credit card or using e-challan.
Those choosing to pay the fee through e-challan will have to download and print the bank challan on A-4 size paper in landscape form. Then, they should take the challan to any branch of the specific bank specified in the application to pay the fee in cash.
In the case of candidates paying through credit card, they will have to bear 1.20% of the fee and service tax as applicable.
In the case of debit card payment, candidates will have to bear 0.75%+taxes for examination fee up to Rs.2000 and 1% + taxes for examination fee of more than Rs.2000. In this case, the first rule will apply.
When using card payment mode, if the account of the applicant is not debited, he/she will not be in a position to print the confirmation page. In this case, the amount will be reversed to their account within 7-10 working days. They will have to pay again in this case.
Before they proceed to pay, candidates are recommended to check the correctness of their application number, name and amount.
