  • The board will publish the images of machine read responses and OMR at the official website of the test, a couple or three weeks after the examination.
  • Any applicant can view the images of his/her answer key by logging in to the website with his/her username and password.
  • Candidates not satisfied with the responses can also challenge online through the appropriate link that can be found on the official board website by paying Rs. 500 per question. This money is payable by any mode. The money once paid will not be refunded. The decision of the board on the challenges will be the final and there should not be any communication from the candidates further in this regard. Challenges through other modes of communication like telephone, fax, letter or any other mode other than online will not be accepted or entertained by the board.
  • The final result will be published in the form of rank cards that will have the relevant ranks along with the total score and component scores in Paper I and Paper II.
  • Candidates can view and can download their rank cards by logging in with their password.
  • Duplicate rank cards cannot be generated at any later stage after a specific date. So, candidates are recommended to retain their rank cards carefully. They should also ensure that the same in protected from any sort of damages.
  • Ranks will be awarded for every candidate taking up WBJEE-2018.
  • Both General Merit Rank (GMR) and Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR) will be awarded to those appearing in both Papers I and II. Candidates appearing for Paper II will get PMR alone.
  • All candidates appearing in WBJEE and having ranks might not be eligible for counselling, for which the cut-off score and or rank will be decided by the board. The same will be announced at the time of publication of results.
  • Candidates have the right to challenge model answer keys through online through the official website. Candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs.500 for the same per question. This is payable through any modes like e-challan or credit or debit card or net banking. The decision of the board on the challenges will be final and candidates should not send any further communications in this regard.  In case, any challenges from candidates are accepted, the board will accordingly publish the final and frozen answer keys.

Counselling and Seat Allotment for Admission:

  • The board will publish a separate notification with details of seat allotment and e-counseling and admission on the website. This will be done shortly after the publication of the results.
  • Only those, who are eligible for e-counseling can participate in the same.
  • Institute-wise and course-wise availability of seats will be provided by the competent authorities before the counselling and seat allotment.
  • Credentials of all candidates taking part in e-counseling will be verified when they report to the appropriate centers for counselling.
  • Candidates will find the details of reporting centers in their rank cards if they are eligible for e-counseling.

Cut-off:

  • The cut-off score for WBJEE 2018 will be announced by the board after the publication of the results.
  • Understanding the ranking methodology and details about the publication of merit list will help candidates understand their stand. Here is the process that will be followed by the board in this regard:
  • On the basis of the papers appeared for by the applicants in WBJEE 2018, followed by their marks, a couple of separate merit rank list will be published by the board:
  • Merit Rank List – I (GMR):
  • This merit list will be in the name of the style of General Merit Rank or GMR. This list will be applicable for admission to all degree level engineering/architecture or technology courses.
  • The list will be used for admission to the degree level pharmacy courses at Jadavpur University.
  • The list will be prepared based on the score of candidates, who have appeared in all subjects, mathematics, physics, and chemistry in WBJEE 2018.
  • Ranking of the said merit list shall be on in descending order of total marks scored in all subjects. However, there may be ties and in such cases, the tie-breaking rule will be applied for determining merit list.
  • Separate reserved category merit ranking will be published for the appropriate category of candidates like SC rank, ST Rank, TFW Rank, PWD rank, OBC-B Rank and OBC-B rank. However, GMR will be applicable only for competitive seat allotment and counselling.
  • Merit List – II (PMR):
  • This list will be in the name and style of PMR, which will be applied for admission to all degree level pharmacy courses available in enlisted pharmacy colleges and universities, except the degree-level pharmacy courses in Jadavpur University.
  • This list will be prepared on the basis of the score of candidates, who have appeared in the combined paper of physics and chemistry only in the WBJEE test.
  • Ranking will be done in descending order of total marks secured in these two papers.
  • The ties will be broken on the basis of tie-breaking rules in determining merit rank.
  • Separate lists will be prepared for reserved category candidates.

Tie-breaking methodology in determining merit rank:

For GMR ranking for preparing the engineering merit rank, the following tie-breaking rules will be in the following order:

  • Candidates with lesser negative marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry taken together will be given first preference.
  • More positive mark in mathematics and physics combined will be the next rule
  • More positive mark in mathematics and chemistry combined will be the third rule
  • Less negative mark in mathematics and physics combined will be the next rule
  • Less negative mark in mathematics and chemistry combined will be the next rule
  • More positive marks in mathematics only for two-mark questions
  • More positive marks in physics only for two-mark questions
  • More positive marks in chemistry only for two-mark questions
  • Less negative marks in mathematics only for two-mark questions
  • Less negative marks in physics only for two-mark questions

For Pharmacy Merit rank list or PMR, the following rules apply:
  • Less negative marks in physics and chemistry
  • More positive marks in chemistry
  • Less negative marks in chemistry
  • More positive marks in chemistry only in 2-Mark questions
  • Less negative marks in chemistry only in 2-Mark questions
  • More positive marks in physics only in 2-Mark questions
  • Less negative marks in physics only in 2-Mark questions
  • The final tie-breaking both for GMR and PMR: Once the tie-breaking rules are applied, if there are still ties, the same will be broken on the basis of the date of birth of the candidates. Yes, older candidates will be given preference as compared to their younger counterparts both for GMR and PMR.
