To become a company secretary, a candidate will have to first take up the Company Secretary Course Offered by the ICSI.

CS Course Details:
There are three stages a candidate will have to get through to become a Company Secretary. The stages include CS Foundation, CS Executive, and CS Professional. In case a candidate wishes to do the CS course after higher secondary, he/she will have to take up all these three stages.
Otherwise, if a candidate wishes to do the CS course after graduation, he/she can skip the foundation course but should take up the other two programmes. Students from any stream at the higher secondary and college level can take up the CS course like commerce, science and arts. But, students from fine arts background cannot take up the course.
Students, who are planning to gather CS course details after 12th alone, should take up the foundation course. Those with degree need not have to take the CS foundation programme.
Those with degree in commerce, science or arts background except fine arts are eligible to apply directly to the CS Executive programme without have to take up the foundation course.
This level can be taken up only by candidates, who successfully complete the CS Executive course by securing the minimum required percentage for a pass in CS Executive level.
